Famous for her previous two projects – 365 Paintings for Ants (2013) and 365 Postcards for Ants (2014), where she painted a miniature painting every day, Lorraine’s latest project is to be a collection of 100 miniatures, painted throughout 2015. Named Potluck 100, each tiny artwork will be auctioned on Instagram and framed before being sent to the lucky owners.
Lorraine is based in Cape Town, South Africa and initially came up with the idea of a series of miniature paintings after realising that she didn’t want to pursue a career as an artist… but at the same time she didn’t want to give up painting. Allowing an hour per day for creativity, the only artwork which could be completed in that time was a miniature, and there began 365 Paintings for Ants. Amazingly, these exquisite little watercolour works of art are completed with no aid of a magnifying glass.
A Limited edition retrospective book comprising 2013’s 365 paintings has sold out but the 2014 Retrospective book is available on Lorraine’s website.
Below are some examples of these stunning little artworks, more can be found on the Paintings for Ants website.
