Haigh's Chocolate

Yesterday, quite by accident, I stumbled across Haigh’s Chocolates’ brand new shop in Chatswood Chase shopping centre on Sydney’s North Shore. As one of the store’s first fifty customers, I was presented with a large, beautifully foil-wrapped milk chocolate Easter egg, which was soon surrounded by numerous others in my basket, as I made my way around their new space. As I feasted my eyes on their spectacular array of brightly coloured eggs, frogs, fish and bilbies, I felt grateful to have such a world-class chocolatier within reach. For those who don’t live in Sydney, Melbourne or Adelaide, however, their creations can be ordered online.

Haigh's Chocolates aren't only makers and purveyors of Australia's finest chocolate but the company is also involved in supporting environmental causes and is committed to discovering more ways of being even more environmentally friendly. They've introduced several initiatives such as a no plastic bags policy, using underground rainwater tanks, recyclable packaging and they're also UTZ Certified, which is not easy to achieve.

The very first chocolate bilby was made by Haigh's in 1993 to replace their Easter rabbits, when they joined forces with the RFA to assist in their work to help protect the Bilby's habitat. To find out more, head to their website.

Here are a few images of their beautiful new Sydney store and some of their wonderful wares.
